The regional jet market is heading for dynamic growth. Regional carriers face a growing number of challenges, whether economic, operational or environmental- challenges they can meet with the help of PowerJet.

Seizing this opportunity, the leading aero-engine manufacturers Snecma (SAFRAN Group) and NPO Saturn have joined forces to create a joint company, PowerJet, to offer the new SaM146 propulsion system for regional aircraft carrying 70 to 120 passengers.

PowerJet is in charge of all SaM146 program management tasks, encompassing design, production, marketing, sales, support and services.

In April 2003, the PowerJet SaM146 was selected by Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi Civil Aircraft to power its Superjet 100 regional aircraft. Developing 13,500 to 17,500 pounds of thrust, the SaM146 is a perfect fit for the Superjet 100 family.
