The SaM146 engine passed a major milestone during the summer of 2010, as it earned European certification in June and Russian certification in August, rewarding several years of intensive work by the dedicated staff at both Snecma and NPO Saturn.
The SaM146’s dual certification clearly shows that this new engine meets the most demanding standards in terms of performance, fuel consumption, noise and reliability. A Type Certificate is the end result of a long process involving in-depth analyses and extensive ground and flight testing, spanning several years. Testing went very smoothly, and results for engine robustness even surpassed PowerJet’s expectations.
