CityJet has signed a long-term engine support per hour (ESPH) agreement for the 31 PowerJet SaM146 engines powering its fleet of 15 Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) regional jets. Under the terms of this agreement, PowerJet will guarantee maintenance fees on a cost per flight-hour basis.
“This agreement marks a major step forward, helping us reduce our operating costs while ensuring world-class reliability,” said Pat Byrne, CEO of CityJet. “We are looking forward to operating these SaM146-powered jets to all of our European destinations.“
Marc Sorel, Chairman and CEO of PowerJet, added: “We are extremely proud to have won this engine support contract from CityJet. Our complete support package, tailored to CityJet’s needs, plays a major role in ensuring the SaM146’s proven reliability.” The agreement includes an additional leased engine, as well as a PowerJet Customer Manager assigned to CityJet.
CityJet, the Irish-based European regional airline, became PowerJet’s first European customer in October 2015 when it selected the 98-seat SSJ100 powered by SaM146 engines for its fleet renewal and network development program. CityJet’s SSJ100s will replace its fleet of Avro RJ85 aircraft for operations across Europe, including to London City Airport.
CityJet took delivery of its two SaM146-powered SSJ100 aircraft, out of the 15 ordered, on 1st June and 1st July, 2016.
PowerJet, founded in July 2004, is a joint venture of Safran Aircraft Engines (France) and NPO Saturn (Russia). The company manages the SaM146 engine program, including development, production, marketing and sales, as well as customer support and MRO services. The SaM146 engine was selected by Sukhoi in April 2003 to power its Superjet 100 regional jet.
